Born in Chicago on February 27, 1962, the 6'4" Adam has been professional screen actor for more than 20 years since winning the lead role in the feature film My Bodyguard in 1980, immediately followed by a part in Robert Redford's Ordinary People. He moved to New York and began acting studies before moving to Los Angeles in 1984 where he currently resides with his wife and children.
Probably most recognizable for his roles in Independence Day (as Major Mitchell) and Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (as Animal Mother), his filmography also includes How to Make An American Quilt, Wyatt Earp, Radio Flyer, Where the Day Takes You and The Patriot, among many others. His television roles include guest appearances on "The Cape," "The Visitor," "Outer Limits," "The X-Files", "Stargate SG-1", "Angel", "VR.5", and "CSI:Miami" as well as the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon", and several TV movies, including "The Poseidon Adventure". He has also been heavily involved with celebrity hockey and golf.
